Travel the Trail as a VIRTUAL VIP

WHY Virtual VIP’s?

Many people tell us they want to participate, but for various reasons cannot join us on the trail. As we shared our research with others, we realized we already had a way people could virtually travel down the trail with us. Hence, the Virtual VIP idea was born. It is designed to provide a fun way for virtually everyone to participate on the Trek, gather and preserve more Battalion history, plus provide a way to finance this historic endeavor*.

What is a Virtual VIP?

You become a Virtual VIP by staking a claim on a segment of the Virtual Mormon Battalion Trail. It is similar to adopt-a-highway however you will have an electronic “Claim Sign” along the virtual Mormon Battalion Trail at the location of your choice. As part of your “Claim” you can upload information or Battalion/Trail related history which can be shared with others. If you wish, you can choose the added bonus of gaining access to the geo-located historical research that has been done in preparation for the hike. This is the same history that will be shared with people along the route. Additional history and information will be added as we march the trail.

Special Virtual VIP privileges:

1—Virtually follow our progress along the trail from the comfort of your easy chair. VIP’s can access live tracking of the modern Battalion as they walk down the trail--updates every ten minutes on Google Earth.

2—Virtually “Stake your Claim on a Piece of History!” You can claim a segment of the Virtual Mormon Battalion Trail for yourself or as a gift. Personalize your individual “claim” by uploading Battalion or Trail related information which can be shared with others. (Note: Claims do not give actual property rights or access to private property—they are virtual claims only)

3—Virtually experience the adventure of the Trek by viewing the actual trail via satellite imagery, accompanied with geo-located historical information. This research and information will be ongoing throughout the Trek so there will always be something new.

*Virtual Trail’s Mormon Battalion Trail is being done totally in support of the Battalion Trek non-profit organization. Excess funds will be donated to other 501c3 programs.
