Denny – Franktown, CO Hills! Hills! Everywhere Hills! I have to put today in as a separate day because it was so interesting. Different from Monday but still beautiful in its own way. Lots of city biking and by the end of the day we were in thick Ponderosa Pines. Kevin says they called it “The Pinery.” I can see why. It has felt like I was climbing to the top of the world today and the skies made me feel we were almost touching Heaven.

I started on sidewalks and bike trails today with cars beside me but, it was fun keeping Pike’s Peak in view. Today it had many faces. Sometimes covered with rain/snow clouds and at the very end of the day it revealed itself in its full glory. I bet it lifted the women of 1846’ hearts too as they made that L-O-N-G climb up these hills.

Kevin met me at the top of my long hill (3.5 miles) and had just finished an interview with an ABC news reporter about the growth of the area. It was supposed to be aired on their show tonight but we didn’t see it. Some roads we absolutely could not ride today for safety reasons but Kevin did ride a four-lane road undergoing construction much to my chagrin. He had left his phone in the car so he was “lost” for about 1 hour because I was sure “he wouldn’t ride on that busy crazy highway!”
We were permitted to park at The Grange in Franktown tonight and tried our first freeze dried meal – Bacon Bean Soup. Laura Anderson was right. It was SO nice to have something all ready to eat when we got home after a long day. It was fabulous! I want the recipe! The temperatures are still dropping at night so hot soup hit the spot.
As we parked the trailer tonight it started to sprinkle and as we looked out the window, we saw this beautiful rainbow. What a nice end to a wonderful day.
