Rainy Day – A Blessing in Disguise

May 7, 2025

Denny - Wednesday. Another Rainy Day! People advised me to make sure I had enough space on my phone for this trip. It was something I didn’t make time for so today ---after seeing my phone (and Kevin’s) were BOTH almost full—a significant amount of time was devoted to copying images and videos onto thumb drives.

It’s amazing how long it takes to do that when you’re making sure no images are “missed”. I’m thankful for “Properties” but it’s tough when they don’t match up on both folders. I have so many videos that I want to upload but, that also takes time so… I putz along as best I can and hope what we offer is interesting and worthwhile. Please check out our YouTube Channel (icon below) because when I can, I upload the videos we are taking.

Having to hunker down these past two days has made me think of the women of the Battalion – taking stock of their food stores, cleaning out the wagon, and preparing for another “long haul” before water. They didn’t have the privilege of knowing when the next town with a Wal-Mart was coming up ahead. Trading posts must have been a big deal!

It was interesting to me how those two days to re-coup from being on the trail day after day, made such a difference! I actually had time to re-organize our pantry and KNEW what food I had available to use. I planned out 13 meals I could make without going to the store. I had a chance to write in my journal, and make Kevin a decent meal. I think the women were thankful when there was a layover day. There were things they couldn’t do when they were constantly on the move.
