Denny – Sunday. The Sabbath day is raining down blessings on the farmers and ranchers of Goshen County, Wyoming tonight. While at church we learned they’ve had such minimal moisture, they were praying for rain.
Once again I think of those pioneer women who only had tents and had to deal with wet clothes, wet bedding, and wet wood. Those women were tough cookies. Tougher than I!
It was interesting today to attend church so close to Ft. Laramie and where so many members of the congregation had knowledge of and respect for the trail and its history. Coincidentally they had been assigned a talk by Elder Cook who talked about the pioneer research he’d done while preparing to dedicate the temple in Casper, Wyoming. That is the temple for this area so emotions were high and stories were shared that just seemed to tie in so well with what we are doing. I appreciated being here. Especially after visiting Reshaw’s fort and knowing he’d helped rescue the rescuers who were left to guard the handcart company’s supplies until spring. The Title of Elder Cook’s talk is “The Atonement of Jesus Christ Provides the Ultimate Rescue.”
We’ve had a few rescuers ourselves this trip and so I know what feelings come to your heart when people are so willing to help when you are in need.
