Kevin – Sunday. Denny and I attend church in the morning, then quickly pack all the things for going back on the trail. We’ve unloaded a bunch of stuff – primarily the 1846 reproduction materials used at Fort Lupton – and some other things we decided we didn’t need on the trail any longer.
Denny will be staying in Utah until June 5 for her sister’s temple sealing. I will be unsupervised for nearly 10 days – out on the trail – alone! What possibly could go wrong?
About noon I get off, heading east on I-80 until the city of Laramie where I turn northward. – into a storm. Y’all think we’ve been kidding about the winds out here? The advisory I did NOT get a photo of said all trailers under 40,000 pounds were to get off the interstate and park.

At sundown I’m driving beside a snow shower that truthfully I parallel for about 45 miles. It lays down a wide line of white snow off to my left about 5 miles but all around me is green grass and sagebrush. Very wet from the rain grass and sagebrush. Reminds me of an early Mercury space program flight that photographed a strange long, dark line in Australia. When they went to the location to ‘ground truth’ the reason, they found it had been a rainstorm that wet the ground, and that was visible from space.
